StandOn is built as a modern web app. You first open it on the web, and once you add it to your Home Screen it behaves much like a traditional app.

When opened from your Home Screen:

  • StandOn has its own app icon
  • it opens in its own full-screen window
  • there’s no normal browser address bar
  • you stay signed into your account
  • your learning progress stays with you

Add StandOn to your iPhone Home Screen

  1. Step 1: Open StandOn in Safari

    Go to StandOn using Safari on your iPhone and sign in.

  2. Step 2: Tap Share

    Tap the Share button in Safari.

  3. Step 3: Choose Add to Home Screen

    Scroll through the actions and select Add to Home Screen. Depending on your iOS version, the menu may look slightly different.

  4. Step 4: Tap Add

    Confirm the name and tap Add. The StandOn icon now appears on your Home Screen. From then on, just tap the icon to open StandOn.

Add StandOn to your Android Home Screen

Menu wording varies between Android devices and versions, so yours may differ slightly.

  1. Step 1: Open StandOn

    Open StandOn using Chrome on your Android phone and sign in.

  2. Step 2: Open the browser menu

    Tap the browser menu.

  3. Step 3: Choose the install option

    Depending on your device and browser version, this may appear as “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”.

  4. Step 4: Confirm

    Follow the prompt to add StandOn. The StandOn icon should then appear alongside your other apps.

So, what actually is a web app?

A web app is an application that uses web technology rather than a traditional download from an app store.

Modern web apps such as StandOn, sometimes called Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), can be added to your phone’s Home Screen, have their own app icon and open in a dedicated full-screen experience.

For most StandOn users, the difference is simple: you don’t need to visit an app store before you can use it.

Do I need an internet connection?

Yes. StandOn currently requires an internet connection.

Because your learning activity and progress are connected to your StandOn account, you’ll need to be online while using the app. Offline learning isn’t currently available.
